Why the Moon sign, not the Sun sign

Jyotish reads transits from the Moon, because the Moon is the mind that lives through the year. If you know only your Western Sun sign, it will rarely match: the sidereal zodiac sits about 24° behind the tropical one, and the Moon changes sign every two and a quarter days. The four slow movers of 2027

Saturn leaves Pisces for Aries in early June, turns back into Pisces in mid-October and settles in Aries in late February 2028. That single move shifts Sade Sati for four Moon signs. Jupiter starts the year in Leo, slips back into Cancer in late January, returns to Leo in late June and reaches Virgo in late November. Rahu spends the whole year in Capricorn and Ketu in Cancer, and the two solar eclipses (in early February and in early August) fall on that same axis.

How to read your page

Each page opens with a table: where each slow planet stands from your Moon, for how long, and how the classical transit table rates that house. Below it are the dates of Mars and Mercury retrograde and of the eclipses, again counted from your Moon. The text then goes through work and money, love and family, health and energy, and the months worth using. Phrases such as “in early June” are worked out from the same calculation; the table gives the exact moment in UTC.

What a Moon-sign page cannot tell you

A Moon-sign forecast is shared by everyone born with the Moon in that sign: one person in twelve. Your own year depends on two things such a page does not see: the running dasha, which decides which promises of your chart are active, and the strength of the transiting planets in your birth chart. A favourable Jupiter does little in a quiet dasha; a demanding Saturn is much lighter for a Taurus or Libra ascendant, for whom Saturn is a friend. Read these pages as the weather, not as your own path through it.
