KP: Krishnamurti Paddhati

Krishnamurti Paddhati is the school created by K. S. Krishnamurti in the mid-twentieth century. It divides each nakshatra into unequal parts by vimshottari and judges by their lords, the sub-lords.

What it is

K. S. Krishnamurti looked for a way to answer specific questions more precisely and developed a system set out in the six volumes of the KP Readers. Each nakshatra is divided into nine parts in the proportions of vimshottari dasha; the lord of such a part, the sub-lord, decides whether a planet or a house gives the promised result. Houses are counted by the Placidus system, and for questions a horary chart is cast from a number between 1 and 249. KP is valued for its concreteness in yes-or-no questions and in timing.

Main techniques

The 249 sub-divisions of the zodiac; the star lord and sub-lord of every planet and cusp; Placidus house cusps; significators of houses; ruling planets at the moment of judgement; horary charts from a number between 1 and 249; vimshottari dasha down to sub-sub-periods for timing.

Questions

Why does KP use Placidus houses?
Krishnamurti found unequal house cusps more precise for timing; every cusp then has its own star lord and sub-lord.
What is a sub-lord?
The lord of one of nine unequal parts of a nakshatra. In KP it decides whether a planet or a house will actually deliver what it promises.
Is KP good for yes-or-no questions?
That is where it is valued most: horary KP answers a concrete question and gives a time window for the outcome.
