Amala yoga (a benefic in the 10th)
Amala means “spotless”. The yoga links a benefic planet with the 10th house of action and reputation, and the classics promise a good name that lasts, earned through honest work.
How the JyotiSoft engine checks it
In the engine: a natural benefic (Jupiter, Venus, or Mercury when it is alone or with them) in the 10th sign counted from the lagna or from the Moon. The classical wording is stricter: only benefics should occupy that 10th. The engine's broader reading is why Amala appears in nearly a third of charts.

What it gives
The 10th house is what a person does in the world and how they are seen for it. A benefic there colours the work with ethics, care or beauty: Jupiter brings teaching, law or counsel, Venus brings arts, diplomacy or finance, Mercury brings writing, trade or analysis. The yoga's promise is reputation rather than wealth: being trusted.
What makes it strong
Read it the classical way: is the 10th free of malefics? Is the benefic in a good sign and not combust? Does the 10th lord support it? A Jupiter alone in the 10th from both the lagna and the Moon is the full Amala the texts describe. A Venus sharing the 10th with Saturn and Rahu is a much more mixed story, even though the engine reports both.
Why the rule matters
We show the engine's broad reading because that is what the bot and PDF reports use, and we flag the difference so you can judge for yourself. Nearly a third of charts having Amala tells you that the yoga, by this rule, describes a tendency, not a distinction.
