The nature of Capricorn
Capricorn is earth that acts: practical ambition, organisation, persistence. Saturn gives patience, realism and a strong sense of duty. Mars is exalted here (deepest at 28°) — energy becomes disciplined and effective; Jupiter is debilitated (deepest at 5°) — faith and generosity become pragmatic. The Sun's entry into Capricorn, Makar Sankranti in mid-January, is one of the great solar festivals of India.
Capricorn ascendant and Capricorn Moon
A Capricorn ascendant gives a serious, hard-working, reliable person who matures with age. Venus, ruling the 5th and 10th, is the yoga karaka; Saturn is lagna lord; Mercury (6th and 9th) is a friend. A Capricorn Moon is reserved and dutiful, and finds security in structure and achievement.
Capricorn in a chart
The house that holds Capricorn is where you work hardest and build for the long term. Rahu enters Capricorn on 25 November 2026 (sidereal, true node, JyotiSoft calculation) and stays about 18 months, stirring ambition and change in that house.
The tenth sign of the natural zodiac echoes the 10th house: career and status.
Nakshatras in Capricorn
Capricorn holds padas 2–4 of Uttara Ashadha, all of Shravana (listening and learning) and the first half of Dhanishta (rhythm and wealth).
