About three times a year Earth and Mercury line up so that Mercury seems, from Earth, to move backwards. In autumn 2026 it stations on 24 October, moves back until 13 November and then goes direct again. In the Vedic tradition a retrograde planet is strong by motion, but its themes look to the past.
