What the period is about

The Sun is the atma, the self, and the king among the grahas. Its period concerns status, leadership, responsibility, relations with superiors and the state, and health in the sense of vitality. Many people take on a leading role, change position in a hierarchy or deal with a father's affairs during a Sun dasha.

What decides the results

The Sun is strongest in Leo and exalted in Aries; in Libra it is debilitated. Its house shows the field of the period: in the 10th, career and public life; in the 9th, father and fortune; in the 4th, home and inner peace; in the 12th, foreign lands and withdrawal. For Aries and Sagittarius ascendants it rules a trine and helps; for Virgo, Pisces and other lagnas where it rules a difficult house, its themes come with effort.

The antardashas

All the sub-periods are short. Sun/Sun lasts about three and a half months. Sun/Venus, a full year, is the longest.
