2026 or 2027 for a wedding: what the muhurta calendar says

By the classical muhurta rules the JyotiSoft month calendar applies, 2027 has 93 favourable wedding days for Delhi and 2026 only 55. The difference is not luck: in 2026 Venus, the significator of marriage, is combust until 17 February and retrograde from 3 October to 14 November, while in 2027 it never turns retrograde and Jupiter spends five months exalted in Cancer. Still, the year decides less than the two birth charts.

Why 2026 has so few dates

The year opens with Venus combust, too close to the Sun to protect a marriage: the calendar gives no wedding day until it clears on 17 February. Jupiter is combust from 14 July to 13 August, Chaturmas then closes the season until Prabodhini Ekadashi on 20 November, and Venus turns retrograde on 3 October and direct only on 14 November. What is left is spring and early summer, and a window from late November through December.

Why 2027 is a wide season

From 24 January to 25 June Jupiter is back in Cancer, its sign of exaltation (see Jupiter in Cancer), and Venus moves direct all year. January to June gives 73 favourable days, May alone 18. The summer closes as usual: Venus is combust from 6 July to 17 September and Chaturmas runs from Devshayani Ekadashi on 14 July to Prabodhini Ekadashi on 10 November, so August, September and October have no wedding day. The season reopens in mid-November.

What matters more than the year

A calendar day is a general window for everyone. For a marriage the two birth charts weigh more: the seventh house and its lord, the dashas both partners are running, and the Moon of each on the chosen day (Tarabala and Chandrabala). How the days were counted

Every day of 2026 and 2027 was scored by the JyotiSoft month calendar for Delhi; other cities within one or two time zones get almost the same list. Calendars that add filters of their own (yoga, karana, the hour of the day) print somewhat different lists, so a day that every calendar you trust agrees on is the safest choice.

Why are there no wedding dates in August, September and October 2027?

Venus is combust from 6 July to 17 September 2027, and Chaturmas runs from 14 July to 10 November. Weddings return after Prabodhini Ekadashi.
